the beginning...

Hi. I'm Karen Elmhirst. Thanks for visiting.

Here's a bit about what we do and how my company came into existence.

I have always been fascinated by what leads people to think and behave in certain ways.

As a result, in business school I focused on marketing.

For over a dozen years, I worked as a sales and marketing leader in a variety of industries. This gave me firsthand experience with what can happen when leaders and businesses effectively leverage the tools of influence to impact people's attitudes, understanding and action.

the lightbulb moment...

While I was the head of marketing for a communications consulting and training company, I participated in some communication skill-building programs which included individual coaching.

It was in my first-ever coaching session that I had the quintessential lightbulb moment. I was beyond inspired to begin a pivot into a new career - as a coach. A few years (and a lot of learning) later, I took the leap and launched my own coaching practice.

I thank my lucky stars every day for allowing me to do the work I love with clients whom I admire and who constantly inspire me.

I work with senior leaders and their teams. Whether it's 1:1 coaching, facilitating a team meeting or leading a workshop, the focus is on learning and using new skills. To read about clients' experiences in their own words, please click here.

And speaking of learning and using new skills, lately I have learned to love creative vegan cooking, pie-making and playing the ukelele.

the team...

I am grateful to have a flexible community of like-minded colleagues and friends whom I engage in the work, as needed.

Whether it’s to co-facilitate a client workshop, manage communications, or help with our tools and technology, I have talented and fun partners to share the work, and the pizza!

Karen, thank you for facilitating another great executive team meeting for Bellicum. I appreciate the ways in which you foster discussions that result in more clarity, alignment and shared commitment.
